Organization Overview

Introduction

HEWT Foundation was established in 2012 under its original name, “HEWT – Human Empowerment and Welfare Trust,” and was duly registered under the Trust Act, 1882. At the end of June 2024, in order to strengthen governance, enhance transparency, and align with modern regulatory frameworks, the organization was re-registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) as “HEWT Foundation” under Section 42 of the Companies Act, 2017, and began operating under this structure in July 2024. Based in Karachi, Pakistan, HEWT Foundation is a not-for-profit organization committed to ethical, structured, and sustainable social development.

Mission and Vision

Mission

To uplift vulnerable families by enabling them to start small businesses and become self-sustainable.

Vision

A world where every person has the opportunity to build a dignified life regardless of socio-economic status.

Guiding Principles

Our Core Values

The fundamental convictions that guide our team in every community visit, loan review, and partnership.

Dignity

We treat every applicant as a respected enterprise partner. Borrowers are never subjected to degrading procedures, and their identity is preserved with honour.

Integrity & 100% Cashless

We disburse 100% of loans directly to vetted suppliers for tools, livestock, or materials. No cash leaks, ensuring funds fulfill their productive intent.

Accountability

All loan cycles and repayments are logged on our web tracking system. Financial statements undergo rigorous third-party auditing for full donor confidence.

Inclusiveness

We actively serve women, rural families, and marginalized minorities in underserved regions across Sindh, KPK, and Punjab.

Sustainability

100% of recovered loan capital is returned to the revolving pool to fund the next awaiting family, generating perpetual social returns.

Mentorship-First

Capital without guidance is fragile. We provide hands-on business advice, budgeting coaching, and peer support to ensure enterprise success.

Our Philosophy

What is Qarz-e-Hasna?

An ancient ethical tradition of benevolence, interest-free lending, and shared community responsibility.

Zero Interest, Zero Hidden Fees

Unlike commercial microfinance institutions that charge 25% to 45% effective interest rates that trap vulnerable borrowers, HEWT charges exactly 0% markup and zero application fees.

Dignity Over Handouts

Charity can inadvertently foster chronic dependence. Qarz-e-Hasna transforms the relationship into one of trust, mutual respect, and reciprocal responsibility.

A Perpetual Revolving Gift

When a borrower repays their monthly installment, that money does not evaporate. It immediately funds the next micro-entrepreneur, compounding donor impact indefinitely.
